To be stopped or hindered; to be nailed. mēkha māraṇēṃ To stop or conclude forcibly or effectually (a business or work). 2 also mēkha ṭhēvaṇēṃ To make some restriction or condition (in an agreement or a compact). mēkha sōsaṇēṃ or ghēṇēṃ hātāvara (To bear a peg to be driven through the hand, as the horse-stealer did.) To have great fortitude or sturdy endurance (esp. in committing or in suffering for evil deeds). mēkhā pl ucaṭaṇēṃ -ucalaṇēṃ -upaṭaṇēṃ -khāndyāvara ghālaṇēṃ or dēṇēṃ g. of o. To dismiss promptly or summarily; to turn out, pack off, hoist out, oust. mēkhā pl ghēṇēṃ To take pegs (as for one's tent, and from the village-carpenter) gratis and compulsorily. Hence to enforce, or to exact, or to take vengeance; or forcibly to recompense or reimburse one's self more generally.
