Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryMaṇikhandha refers to: “jewelbulk, ” i.e. a tremendous jewel, large gem, functioning in tales almost like a magic jewel J. III, 187; V, 37 (°vaṇṇaṃ udakaṃ water as clear as a large block of crystal), 183 (°pilandhana).
Note: maṇikhandha is a Pali compound consisting of the words maṇi and khandha.
Pali is the language of the Tipiṭaka, which is the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddha’s speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
