Source: What is India: Epigraphia Indica volume XXXI (1955-56)Kharala or Kharalagrāma is the name of an ancient city mentioned in the “Alarpur of Narasiṃha II” (1294 A. D.). The second plot of the land granted comprised the village called Kharalagrāma situated in the Sāilo vishaya. The southern boundary of this village was the dam of highway (bandha) at the northern limit of Kurāṃgagrāma, while its northern boundary was the southern daṇḍā of Hariontāgrāma. To its west was the eastern boundary line of Chhatalogrāma and its eastern limit touched partially the boundary of the tank attached to the golā (granary) belonging to Khandhalagrāma.
These copper plate (mentioning Kharala) were found while digging the foundation for a house in the village Alalpur. The grant was made by king Narasiṃha II in february 1294 A.D. It's object was to increase the king’s longevity, health, wealth and majesty.
