Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryKāmūpapatti refers to: existence or rebirth in the sensuous universe. These are three: (1) Paccupaṭṭhita-kāmā (including mankind, four lowest devalokas, Asuras, Petas and animals), (2) Nimmāna-ratino devā, (3) Paranimmita-vasavattino devā D. III, 218; It. 94.
Note: kāmūpapatti is a Pali compound consisting of the words kāma and upapatti.
Pali is the language of the Tipiṭaka, which is the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddha’s speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
