Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesGeneral of King Khallatanaga. He led a revolution against the king and killed him in the capital. The kings brother Vattagamani, however, killed the general and took over the government (Mhv.xxxiii.33; see also MT.612).
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
