Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryjōkaḍa (जोकड) [or जोखड, jōkhaḍa].—n (yugaṃ S) The fixed front-cross-piece or thill-yoke (of a cart or plough): also the upper cross member of a yoke where there are two. jōkaḍa & jūṃ are of one meaning but current in different districts; and both are misunderstood of the fore yokes or collars properly termed śiḷa- vaṭa. 2 C The handle or turning piece of a sugarpress. It receives, at one end, the head of the male screw (navarā) over the crown-board (pāṭī) and is, at the other end, the thill-yoke, or is connected with it by means of the draw-pole (ōḍhakāṭhī). 3 fig. Yoke or burden (as of the cares of life). 4 fig. A monstrous mass (as of a Boa, adhēlēṃ, or other serpent).
