Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryjāṇēṃ (जाणें).—v i (yāna S) To go, i. e. to proceed, travel, move on. 2 To pass or go from; to depart from, i. e. to be lost, destroyed, removed. 3 To go by; to pass on; to elapse--time. 4 To go in; to enter or be contained. 5 (Esp. in the past tenses.) To be gone; to be spoiled, ruined, marred, blasted. Ex. hī bāyakō cāṅgalī paṇa kambarēnta gēlī; hī khurasī cāṅgalī paṇa khurānta ḍaula gēlā; hā kasalā vidvān parantu abhimānānēṃ gēlā. 6 To take place--some omission or oversight, some deviation from the established or the proper way. Ex. rōja auṣadha ghēta asēṃ tyānta ēka divasa mājhē hātūna gēlēṃ rōgānēṃ baḷa kēlēṃ; tyāpāsūna dōna akṣarēṃ lihūna ghyāvīṃ ēvaḍhēṃ gēlēṃ; hā aṅgarakhā barā utaralā parantu guṇḍījavaḷa kāṃhīṃ gēlēṃ. 7 To go from, proceed from, be done by;--esp. some wrong act, and inadvertently. Ex. tī gōṣṭa majapāsūna gēlī kharī. 8 To be deducted; to be subtracted from. 9 To lose its power, excellency, virtue--a limb or member, a drug. 10 To go after--the heart and affections, the eyes, ears &c. vara or kaḍē of o. 11 To be made, given, passed--a promise, one's word. In this sense it seems confined to the past tense. 12 To go out--alight. Ex. jhaṇakāṛyābarōbara divā gēlā. 13 To waste away--the body. 14 To have sexual intercourse with a female. śīṃ of o. This verb, used with a present participle, expresses persistence in a course. Ex. rōja auṣadha ghēta jā; jasā tumhī vyāpāra vāḍhavāla tasā mī paikā dēta jāīna. Used with the perfect tense of a transitive verb, it forms the passive voice. Ex. tulā śikṣā kēlī jāīla. Used with the suspensive or connective form of the past participle, the form in ūna, it implies perfection, completeness of action or occurrence. Ex. taḷyāntīla pāṇī aṭūna gēlēṃ; śarīra vāḷūna gēlēṃ. It is used in the imperative after another verb in the imperative, enforcing the first, and requiring promptitude of execution or performance. Ex. āṇa jā, ṭhēva jā, dē jā, kara jā Bring, put, give, do--go, set about it. jāyācā (To go back; to be returned.) Borrowed for an occasion--clothes, jewels, furniture: also jāyāṃ or jāyāṃsa. Pr. jāyāñcēṃ lēṇēṃ lājiravāṇēṃ. gēlā mēlā or gēlā mēlā gatalā. It is clean gone; gone utterly and for ever. kāya jātēṃ or gēlēṃ (mājhēṃ, tujhēṃ, tyācēṃ &c.)? What care (I &c.)? It's no business or concern (of mine &c.) gēlā tō gēlā The past is irrevocable; the gone is irrecoverable. gēlēlā asaṇēṃ in. con. To be in the experience of; to be seen, found, heard of, known by. Ex. hēṃ malā gēlēlēṃ āhē I have met with this.
