Because this grass, although cut clean to the ground and removed in appearance altogether by being rubbed up with its roots, still continues to shoot out from the few ramifications remaining, and at length to flourish as at first.) A term for a hardy and enduring race, tribe, order, society &c. that, surviving all persecutions and disasters, has ever some standing and thriving representative; also for an individual of whom, with whatever arts and efforts, the ejecting from his estate, office &c. cannot be effected; also for a deeply seated or widely spread disease (e. g. Polypus) that, howsoever repressed, is again and again showing itself under some or other form.
