Greek art bears striking similarity with the picture drawn of that age by South-Indian Tamil poets of the Sangam age.—Greek and Roman art excelled in a large measure during the period 400 B.C.—200 A.D. It was during this time that the use of the column and the arch were discovered and we have definite evidence that brick was used as early as the V century B.C. in building work and painting was also resorted to. The Greeks often used colour to relieve the monotony of the walls.
