A childish whining or moaning after: also any tedious, tiresome strain. v gā, gāta basa. 3 fig. A business, matter, affair; a business-transaction or case: also a circumstance, event, occurrence. gāṇēṃ mhaṇaṇēṃ & gāṇēṃ gāṇēṃ are to be distinguished. The first is To sing in a plain way; the second is To sing artistically. The first is done by women generally; the second by professional vocalists.
