Five Knowledges:—A technical term in Buddhism corresponding to the Sanskrit jñāna defined in the Dharma-saṃgraha (section 94):

  1. Mirror-like knowledge (ādarśana-jñāna),
  2. Knowledge of equality (samatā-jñāna),
  3. Knowledge of reflection (pratyavekṣaṇā-jñāna),
  4. Knowledge of performance (kṛtyānuṣṭhāna-jñāna),
  5. Knowledge of the very pure dharma element (suviśuddha-dharma-dhātu-jñāna).

The Dharma-samgraha (Dharmasangraha) is an extensive glossary of Buddhist technical terms in Sanskrit (e.g., ‘five knowledges’). The work is attributed to Nagarguna who lived around the 2nd century A.D.
