1. To say, speak, tell, mention, utter, express; பேசுதல். சொல்லுதல் யார்க்கு மெளிய வரியவாஞ் சொல்லிய வண்ணஞ் செயல் [pesuthal. solluthal yarkku meliya variyavagn solliya vannagn seyal] (திருக்குறள் [thirukkural], 664).
2. To recite, repeat, relate, quote; திருப்பிக்கூறுதல். சொன்னதைச் சொல்லுங் கிளிப் பிள்ளை. [thiruppikkuruthal. sonnathais sollung kilip pillai.]
