chaḷaṇēṃ (छळणें).—v i (chala S) To suffer or feel harass, worry, vexation, weariness. 2 (As a modification of the above sense.) To sink under terror; to be oppressed under alarm or fright. Pr. saḷō kā paḷō: also saḷō paḷōsēṃ karaṇēṃ Shall I swoon right away or run off?--this question to stir. malā tyācyā trāsā- nēṃ saḷō kīṃ paḷō asēṃ jhālēṃ His worrying drives me to the alternative of fainting outright or of running away. Note. saḷō is throughout for chaḷō.
