Source: archive.org: Vagbhata’s Ashtanga Hridaya Samhita (first 5 chapters)Avapīḍaka (अवपीडक) refers to an “instillation” (i.e., drinking ghee before meals and after digestion), mentioned in verse 4.6-8 of the Aṣṭāṅgahṛdayasaṃhitā (Sūtrasthāna) by Vāgbhaṭa.—Accordingly, “[...] the remedies [...] in those caused by (the retention of) urine, on the other hand, ghee is commended as drink, both before meals (in a small dose) and after digestion in a large dose, and this twofold application (is) known as an instillation [viz., avapīḍaka]. [...]”.
