Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationĀnandamanas (आनन्दमनस्) refers to the “happiest mood”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.2.18. Accordingly as Brahmā narrated to Nārada:—“[...] going ahead, with all the Devas, led by Brahmā and Viṣṇu and accompanied by the sages, Śiva shone brilliantly. Great festivities were arranged by Devas and the attendants of Śiva who were in the happiest mood (ānandamanas), on their way”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
