Source: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchAmanaskasamādhi (अमनस्कसमाधि) refers to “Samādhi without mind”, according to the Mānasollāsa verse 9.30-31.—Accordingly, while discussing the practice of meditation is called Samādhi: “The inactivity of the mind through [the practice of] meditation is called Samādhi. Samādhi without mind (amanaskasamādhi) is free from all thought. When the mind goes to the state of stillness, the breath becomes still. By means of stillness of the mind, [the Yogin] should practise [this] yoga, [which is endowed] with meditation”.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
