Source: Shodhganga: Drumavichitrikarnam—Plant mutagenesis in ancient IndiaAjagaracarman (अजगरचर्मन्) refers to the “skin of a python”, which is used in various bio-organical recipes for plant mutagenesis, according to the Vṛkṣāyurveda by Sūrapāla (1000 CE): an encyclopedic work dealing with the study of trees and the principles of ancient Indian agriculture.—Accordingly, “Mimusops elengi trees blossom forth producing lots of Michelia champaca flowers if continuously fed with flesh water after filling the bottom with plenty of mud mixed with rotten lotus seeds and the skin of a python (ajagaracarman) or snake.
