Jetavana vessel — This elegant earthenware vessel has a Parthian (247 ВСЕ – 226 CE) or Sassanian origin (224-637 CE). It has been used to store Olive oil or some other kind of liquid. This terracotta object bears some characteristice of the vessel type called "Amphora" that has extensively circulated from the Mediterranean region to South Asia. It was discovered in 1982 from the southern vahalkada (facade) of the Jetavanarama monastery in Anuradhapura.

These photos were taken at the Maritime Museum in Galle (Sri Lanka) which include objects recovered from the 2nd century B.C. Godawaya shipwreck. The Maritime Museum is housed in Galle's historic Dutch warehouse (built in 1671) and opened its doors on May 9, 1992. The Maritime Archaeology Museum is serving as a centre of education for various groups of visitors and researchers of Southern region of Sri Lanka.
